ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRAVEL


Every artist who wants to participate should cover their own travel, accommodation and food expenses.
° This event will be centralized in Bedulu Village, where we will have place to gather and eat together.
° Melati Suryodarmo offers a help to make reservation for places to stay and a meeting place in a Village Bedulu, located in the middle of Bali. In Bedulu, “Nyepi” Ritual is still deep tradition and in very strong practice.
In this village, there is a Pura Samuan Tiga Temple, which has a very strong inter-religious background and history. A simple open theatre and a simple village hall are located in front of the temple. In 2007, all ceremonies according to this day will be started on March, 18th afternoon. On this day there will be a big carnival on the streets allover Bali. On March 19th, the main nyepi day starts at 00:00:00 Middle Indonesian Time. On the March 20th, there will be ceremonies at the temples and celebration.

Please consider to arrive latest on March 17th, 2007. Due to the carnival on March 18th, all streets may be in total traffic jam.

STAY
Accommodation choices:
a) Organized stay and food
- We can make a reservation for a room in a Balinese family houses from Bedulu Village. This will not be a hotel room. You may consider that it may not be silent and that roosters and chickens are awake very early in the morning (ca at 5 AM). The Balinese wake up very early in the morning too, and normaly start their day at 6 AM. If you are worried about mosquitos, please bring your own mosquito net.
- Food: there will be a plenty of food served everyday (breakfast, lunch and dinner) at the main house.

- For food and stay will charge you 150.000 Rupiah (ca.15 US$) per day, per person.

** Mr. I wayan Gdhe Nuaja will be our host in the village Bedulu. You may have to pay in advanced on your arrival, according to the length of your stay.


b) Arrange your own stay and food
- You may make hotel reservation on your own and organize everything by yourself. The closest place with many options of hotels will be in Ubud area, which is ca. 25 minutes drive from Bedulu. You may consider to spend at least 150.000 - 200.000 Rupiah (ca.20$) per night.
- In this area, there are many choices of restaurants and shops. But they all will be closed on the Nyepi day.

TRANPORTATION
The main Airport : Ngurah Rai International Airport, Denpasar, Bali
How to go from Airport to Bedulu
- Taxi from the airport to Bedulu: ca. 20$, 60 - 70 minutes drive. You can order the taxi at the official taxi counter next to the arrival exit at the Denpasar Airport. The taxi company will charge you at the counter 200.000 Rupiah (ca. 20 US$) to go to Bedulu or Ubud.
- If you prefer to be picked up at the airport by our driver, please inform your arrival date, time and flight number to Melati Suryodarmo. Our driver will charge you 20$, per car.

Public transportation
- Taxis are mostly available in Denpasar and around. In Bedulu and Ubud area, there are car services available. You mostly have to bargain. There are public buses, which take you from Ubud to Bedulu for 6000 Rupiah (ca 0,60 cent $).

VISA
- For this event, you need to get a visa upon your arrival at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, a 30-day visitor's visa is issued; the current charge for the visa is $25 USD. Your passport must still be six months valid. Some countries may need to apply for Visa at the Indonesian Consulate in your country (i.e Russia). Please inform yourself about this.
