"MACANING" in May 2008 is scheduled on

Presents:

AGUS PRASETYO with his music composition "Layung", inspired by Gending compositions of RC. Hardjo Subroto who was one of the most important Javanese gamelan composer. Agus Prasetyo explores the pieces by focusing on the vocal works to reach the equal athmosphere.

KOMUNITAS JOGED HOMESTAY will present "TETAK (circumsiced)", a dance piece with "auch ..... auch ... sakit" as based concept.

Dancers: Bayu “Bolot”, Luluk “Lulsky”, Donanda “Nandhog”, Mazda Susilo, Havied Ponx, Agus “Mbendhol”.

FESTIVAL PASAR KUMANDANG
18 to 20 May 2008
at Traditional Markets in the area of Solo, Central Java
This 4th annual Festival is special, occurring on the 100-yr. anniversary of the
Indonesian nation.
At Traditional Markets there will be art performances,
purification and offering ceremonies, and
seminars on the future for Traditional Markets
with speakers such as: Professor Dr. Sri Edi Swasono, Economist; Bondan Winarno, BPPI-Indonesian Heritage Society; Ir. Widya Wijayanti, BPPI-Indonesian Heritage Society; Professor Dr. Waridi, S.Kar M.Hum, Rector Indonesian Arts Institute-Surakarta; and Goenawan Mohamad, Founder Tempo Magazine.
The aim of Festival Pasar Kumandang is to uplift a spiritual humanitarian economy for the prosperity of society.

The festival is realized in collaboration between Padepokan Lemah Putih and MATaYA Arts & Heritage, BPPI- Badan Pelestarian Pusaka Indonesia,
LPPM-Universitas Sebelas Maret, and Pemerintah Kota Solo

"Studi Klub tari", a monthly small and simple forum, opens for young dancers, choreopgraphers, dance critics, dance-music composers and musicians who want to share experience, ideas and discuss about new issues in dance context.

Padepokan Lemah Putih opens a workshop program for children from around the area of Padepokan lemah Putih (Pelangi -Perumnas Mojosongo, Bonorejo Village, Bonoroto Vilageand Keluarahan Plesungan.

The workshop programs are:

Wayang in english language, dance, music and mathematic.

This program is supported by A. Susan Dean, SED Performing Arts, cooperation with the people from Kelurahan Plesungan, Mr. Ichsan, all the teachers, Suprapto Suryodarmo and Padepokan Lemah Putih Solo.
