Artist biography:
Angana Jhaveri
Producer/Director, a classical Manipuri dancer with the Jhaveri Sisters. She wrote her thesis on the Raslila Performance in Manipur for which she got a PhD in Asian Theater from Michigan State University, USA. Since then she has worked in media, on ad films, corporate films, music videos, non-fiction television and documentaries. A multi-media film and theater project took her to Indonesia for an extensive period following which, she served in the video department of SYDA (Siddha Yoga Dham Associates) Foundation, where she produced directed and edited films for the dissemination of the spiritual teachings of Gurumayi Chidvilasananda.

Aneka Rasa captures the beauty and wisdom of the Asian mystique. Featuring the artistic traditions of Dance and Textiles of India and Indonesia, the film illumines the delicate nuances of the human spirit.

Synopsis:
There seem always to have been two ways of looking at the world. one is the every day way in which objects and event, although they may be related casually and influence each other, are seen to be separate and the other is a rather special ways in which everything is considered to be a part of much greater pattern...

While drawing attention to the cultural similarities between India and Indonesia, the film juxtapose their traditions of dance and textiles with a larger purpose to reveal the secret mystical knowledge and innate wisdom of an ancient heritage.

For generation, the intricate technology of our arts has been passed down from master to disciple. And this great wealth is preserved remarkably unchanged.

Like the spiritual practices of yoga and meditation, these artistic traditions create harmony and balance for an inner alignment of the individual self with cosmic harmony evoking Rasa, the nectar of divine experience. They are a precious resource, as vital to the well being of the human spirit as the preservation of nature is essential to the well being of pure planet.
